On Sunday last inTwo Mile Borris Co Tipperary the Second day of the Munster Cross Country Championship went ahead and with medals for the top twelve in each of the under age events,Waterford athletes came home with many.
Órla O'Connor Waterford AC was the top performer as she won the under 19 title and silver medals went to Hugo Blair u 19 also Waterford,Lucy Holmes u 17,Tommy Fennell u 15 and Isobelle Gaffney u 9 all three West Waterford,Sarah Gaffney was 3rd u 13 again from West Waterford and 4th placings went to Aidan Burke Waterford u 15 and Cian O'Riordan West Waterford u 19,Anthony O'Donnell was 5th u9 and David Gaffney was 6th u 13 both West Waterford as three members of the Gaffney family got in the top six.Other high placers were Liam Broderick West Waterford 7th u 11,Ruth Heery Waterford 8 th u 19,Emma Caulfield do 10 th u 19,Mollie Hutchinson Ferrybank u 19, Sarah Nyhan West Waterford u15,Liadan Mcgrath and Tom Windrossboth KCK u 9 were all 11th and Callum Hurley Ferrybank 12th u 17. In the inter club team section Waterford won the girls u 19 and were second in the boys u 19 ,boys u 15 and girls u 17 ,West Waterford won the boys u 13 and were second in the boys u 15 and Ferrybank were second in the girls u 19.In the Inter County section Waterford won the Girls u 19 and were second in girls u 17 and boys u 17 and third placings were secured by girls u 9, boys u 9 ,boys u 11, boys u 13 and girls u 15 overall a very good day for Waterford
Connick wins Sanofi 5 Miles
Over 200 runners competed in the Sanofi 5 Miles plus several walkers on the outskirts of the City on Sunday morning last. Andrew Connick Ferrybank continued his good form in the run to win easily in a time of 25 minutes 51 seconds,Noel Murphy Waterford finished strongly to take second spot in 26.26 overhauling Eoin Lyons Ferrybank in the closing stages,Lyons was third in 26.42. First lady home again with an impressive run was Ruth Fitzgerald Waterford AC in 28.48, Sharon Cleere Gowran was second in 30.53 with Kate Veale West Waterford was third in 30.57.The Age category winners were;Women Junior Alexandra Butler,F35 Lindie O'Keeffe ,F 40 Ann Marie Lineen F45 Breda Hennessy St Joseph's,F 50 Ann Hennebry Focus on Fitness F 55 Bernie Prendergast West Waterford.Men Junior Ruari Cusack M40 Philip O'Leary M45 Mark Gater Focus on Fitness, M50 Tony Mc Mahon do M55 Joe Gough West Waterford. The proceeds went to Multiple Sclerosis Society and thanks to the Organisers in Sanofi ,the Gardai,Red Cross and stewards for their input to a well organised event

On Sunday next the Munster Master's X Country Championships and the Inter Club Juvenile Relays are in Clarecastle Co Clare at 11.30 am The Juvenile relays are under 10,12,14 and 16.Waterford will be represented at the fixture

Beat the Train 10 miles
On Saturday next the second Annual Beat the Train 10 miles run is on the Waterford Greenway.the event starts at Kilmeaden Railway Station and heads in towards the city and back out to finish at the Station. Starting time is 10 am and proceeds to Down Syndrome Society.
.Dungarvan on Sunday
On Sunday next the 10th Annual Paddy Joe Curran Old Parish Turkey Trot 5 mile run and 4 mile walk will take place at the Marine Bar, Pulla, Dungarvan sponsored by Cleanzone Technology LTD. All proceeds from this year's event will go to West Waterford Hospice. The 4 mile walk will begin from 11.30 am and walkers will proceed on walk as they enter, while the 5 miles run will get under way at 12 noon.Its Race 2 Ml Roche Carpets Series.
County Junior men and junior ladies teams have been selected for the National X Country Championships in Abbotstown on Sunday week November 25th. Just a few weeks to go to Annual Waterford AC Half Marathon on Saturday December 1 st starting at 10 am at WIT Carriganore at and finishing there also .If you have entered and now find you cannot compete please do not pass your number to someone else,it causes havoc with results Course is The same as last year.
