Munster X County fixture lost to the County
Every year the Munster X Country Championships rotate around the six counties in the province and Waterford gets one each year. This year the fixture allocated was the Senior and juvenile championships u 9,11,13,15,17,19, on November 11 th. and hundreds of athletes plus their supporters would be present. Munster Council covers the cost of hiring of venue etc but Waterford has lost the fixture simply because Munster say they could not afford to pay the fee specified by WIT in Carriganore. Its a big loss to the athletes in our county who will now have to travel and also to WIT not alone for the hire fee but also to their Catering Dept who do extremely well out of these fixture. The event for November 11 th has now been allocated to Two Mile Borris in Co Tipperary. For next year when another Munster fixture is allocated the County Board will now have plenty of time to seek out a suitable venue which Munster will accept.
