On Sunday last the Munster Senior, junior and under 23 triple jumps and Master's Indoor Championships were in Nenagh and Waterford athletes did extremely well Two Waterford AC athletes both won titles in the triple jumps, Grace Furlong in the under 23 with a new record of 10.83 metres and Emily O'Mahony in the junior with Lorna Mohahan Ferrybank third and Furlong and O'Mahony finished first and second in the senior championship. Denise O'Connor Tramore won the senior 400 metres and was second in the 200 metres, Yurig Kanash West Waterford was second in the senior pole vault
In the Master's there were many medals won in different categories. For Waterford AC Paschal Halley won the over 45 60 m hurdles, 400 metres and long jump ad was second in the 200 metres. Tony Quinlan won the 800 metres o35.Silver medals over 35 went to Liz Colcough in the 200 metres,Mark Mc Kenna 3000 metres and John Dineen was third in the 200 and 400 metres and Ian O'Byrne third in the 1500 metres and Donnacha Dennehy again was third in the long jump o40.For West Waterford Joe Gough won o 65 the 200 metres in record time and also the 400 metres,Terri Gough won the over 70 60m,200 m 400 m and shot putt and Mossie Keogh was third in the 800 m o40. Gregory Fitzgerald had two thirds over 45 the 60 and 400 metres For Tramore Shirley Fennelly won the o45 60 metres and long jump and was third in the shot putt while Frances O'Connor won the o55 200 and 800 metres.
At an Indoor meeting organised by Athletics Ireland in Abbotstown last Thursday evening Joe Gough West Waterford competing in the over 65 400 metres set n ew National figures in the age group.He was timed at 59.57 beating the the old mark of 63.98 byover 4 seconds.
Week End Fixtures
On Saturday next the All Ireland Indoor Combined Events in all age groups are in Athlone with a 10 am start and a small number of athletes from Waterford will compete. On Sunday the Munster Juvenile Indoor Relay Championships are in Nenagh the ages are under 10 to under 19 and again a small entry from Waterford is expected,first event at 11 am. On Sunday week 28 th The All Ireland Junior and under 23 Championships are in Athlone.
Sunday's Road Races in the county..
Here at home on Sunday next there are road fixtures in the city and Dungarvan. In the city the Annual St Paul's Parish Annual Frank Leahy Memorial 5 miles Road Race and 3 miles walk will be starting near St Paul's Church in the City, walk 12.30 pm, run 1pm. Entries at St Paul's Parish Hall on the day. In Dungarvan the 30 th Annual Kiely Monumental Colligan up Run is in ColliganWood outside Dungarvan over 5 miles .it starts at 12 noon, preceded by the Colligan Shield run for juveniles at 11.30 am.

On Friday January 26 th the Waterford Secondary Schools X Country Championships are in St Augustine's College Grounds Abbeyside.

Any group wishing to organise a race should have it up in the public eye well in advance and avoid clashing with events in the county close to the date making sure it is insured -remember any accidents etc the buck stops with the organisers be this a group,club or even a few individuals. So don't wait till the week ibefore a race to publicise it and keep away from fixtures already up in the public arena
The Credit Union Overall Supreme Young Athlete for 2017 will be announced at a function in The Dome WIT on Friday January 26 th . 12 monthly winners in the under 13 to under 19 age groups as per the rules will be vying for the title,8 eight from Waterford AC, two from Tramore and one each from West Waterford and Ferrybank. On the subject of the awards please note for monthly Awards only results for that month considered,previous results not taken into consideration. For the Overall it does what it says on the tin.
