The Inaugural West Waterford AC Waterford Greenway Half Marathon was held on Saturday last from Kilmacthomas to Ballinroad and over 400 finished the course. They were led home by Alan O'Shea Bantry in 1 hour 9 minutes and 11 seconds well clear of Frank Quinlan Waterford second in 1.13.22 and Mark Smith Eagle Cork was third in 1.23.24. First lady home in 1.25.21 was Sylvia Malone Waterford,Kate Veale West Waterford was second in 1.29.35 and Ciara Wilson DMP Wexford was third in 1.30.18. The category winners were Men;M40 Dermot Ryan West Waterford,M45 Tony Kelleher Togher, M50 Paul Moran Rathfarnham, M55 Danny Crowley Ballymore/Cobh, M60 Anthony Dwyer West Waterford, M65 Tony Ruane Cartamundi Jets, Junior Timmy Curran,Team West Waterford. Power wins Cill Barra 5KM
180 competed in the Annual Cill Barra 5 KM Road Race in Ballybeg last Friday evening and Trevor Power Waterford was first home in 15 minutes 38 seconds, Brian Murphy CK on Suir was second in 16.05 and Ian O'Byrne Waterford third in 16.37. First lady home was Mary Molloy Ck on Suir in 20.1 ,Maria Murphy Griffin St Joseph's was second in 20.22 and Anna Duffin Waterford was third in 20.35. proceeds go to Waterford Marine Search and Rescue,and the Cill Barra Sports Centre. A 3 Km walk was also held with a fine entry also.The organisers wish to thank the Gardai, Red Cross, all Stewards for a very successful event.

On Saturday week September 16 th the Darra Fitzpatrick Memorial 5 KM run is on Waterford Airport Runway with limited entry of runners only,no walkers. entries at dfrun.ie The 'Croppy Boy Road Race will take place on the Saturday 30th of September 2017 at 2:00pm in Passage East. This event has been kindly sponsored by the Scenic Passage East Ferry. The County Convention takes place on Friday next September 8th in St Augustine's College,Abbeyside at 8pm An election of officers for the coming year will take place, and clubs are particularly encouraged to mention it to any interested people in such roles as one or two current members of the board have indicated they will not be in a position to carry on their role going into next year.
