The second Munster Cross Country Championship fixture of the season will be in Beaufort Co Kerry on Sunday next starting at 11.30 am. On the programme are races for senior men and women as well as the boys and girls under 9,11,13,15,17 and 19.Lots of athletes from Waterford clubs will be competing chasing individual and team titles. On day 1 of the championships in Carriganore on Sunday week Waterford did very well and on Sunday it is expected that a similar trend will continue. Beaufort is situated 10 kilometres west of Killarney. On Saturday next the All Ireland schools combined event championships are in Athlone with a small Waterford entry
22nd Annual Brickey 4 miles on Sunday . .
Brickey Rangers Bushy Park GAA grounds outside Dungarvan is the venue for the 22nd Annual Brickey 4 miles Run on Sunday next November 8 th There will be the the traditional weight categories for men with prizes awarded to the top 3 plus weight categories and for women just prizes for first 6 home. The race will get under way at 11 am with registration taking place from 10.15 onwards in the GAA clubhouse Bushy Park. The Martin Curran Cup will be awarded to the first man on the day and the Jim Lyons Memorial Shield will be awarded to the first lady. The prize-giving will take place in the clubhouse immediately after the race and refreshments will also be provided for all the runners. Proceeds to Carriglea National School.
Winter League begins
This Thursday November 5th the Annual Winter League begins in the city starting at the RSC at 7 pm and continues at the same time each Thursday,registration from 6 pm. With a huge entry each evening safety is the top priority for competitors and they themselves can contribute by obeying the stewards and not be CriW crossing on roads etc or no solo runners. All must wear clear reflective clothing with the emphasis on clear and be aware that lots of traffic will be around the area with many drivers unaware of the actual runs.Wishing all a very enjoyable winter league
Connick wins 5 KM
110 competed in the WITAC 5 KM Trick or Trot road race on Saturday last in and adjacent to the WIT Sports Campus in Carriganore in ideal conditions and very warm for the time of year. Andrew Connick a man very familiar with the course proved a very convincing winner in a time of 15 minutes 13 seconds ,Niall Tuohy was Many competed in costumes to suit the occasion and the day that was in it. second in 15.30 both Ferrybank AC and Brian Murphy Carrick on Suir was third in 15.43.First lady home was Adele Walsh St Senan's Kilmacow in 18.54,Ann Gilshin from Menapians Wexford was second in 19.13 and Órla Queally Ferrybank was third in 19.18.
Personal best for Hayley in Doha
Hayley Fitzsimmons from the Portlaw area competed for Ireland at the World Paralympic Games in Doha last week and acquitted herself very well Competing in the F40 Shot Putt she had a throw of 5.20 metres a personal best by 15 centimetres and finished 6 th in the final. By any standards this was a fine performance in such a major event.
Dublin City Marathon
Ravis Zakis West Waterford was first over 35 in the National Marathon held in association with the Dublin City Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday October 26 th in a time of 2 hrs 33 minutes and 21 seconds and Mary Ryan Jennings Waterford AC was first over 60 in 3.37.50

Waterford AC Half Marathon
Anyone locally not entered for the Waterford AC Half Marathon should do so immediately as when 2000 entries are received entries close for definite,do't say you haven't been warned. Earlier this week entries were coming in approximately 100 per day and on Saturday last 1100 had entered well ahead of the same date last year.
