Munster Cross Country a brilliant event in Carriganore
Almost 1500 athletes from all over the province competed in the very successful Munster Cross Country Championship fixture held over an excellent course in the grounds of WIT Sports Campus in Carriganore on Sunday last and athletes from Waterford clubs figured prominently in the individual events in huge fields as well as in team competition,over 3000 spectators were also present. In the juvenile individual races two Waterford athletes secured bronze medals when they finished third in their age groups, Aoife Hamilton West Waterford under 18 and Nathan Mackey Waterford under 10. Jake Bagge Ferrybank was 4 th under 16 and David Mc Glynn Waterford was 5 th under 18, 6 th placings were secured by Una O'Brien Tramore under 14 and Isobelle Cummins Ferrybank under 16, three West Waterford athlete were each placed 7 th in their races,Hannah Power under 18,Oisin O'Riordan under 14 and Lucy Homes again under 14,Niamh Casey Ferrybank was 8 th under 18 while Collin Willins under 12, Darina Shanley under 18 and Niall Blackwell under 18 all West Waterford were 10 th in their events. With such large numbers in each event these placings were highly commendable.
West Waterford AC won two inter club team awards the girls under 14 and girls under 18 ,Ferrybank won the girls under 16 and Waterford were third in the same event,their boys under 16 team were also third. In the inter county team section Waterford won the under 18 girls the scorers being Aoife Hamilton,Hannah Power, Darina Shanley,Caoimhe Dwyer West Waterford and Niamh Casey and Krista Meade Ferrybank, the boys under 14 were second and third placings went to the girls under 10,12,14 and boys under 16, In the novice events Waterford were third county in both the men's and women's. The event was organised for Munster Athletics by Waterford County Board who wish to thank the Management at WIT Sports Campus,Order of Malta,all the stewards and the great help provided by clubs in the county on Saturday laying out the course.
WIT Trick or Trot 5 Km
On Saturday next October 31 st at the WIT Sports Campus Carriganore WIT AthleticClub promote their 5 Km Trick or Trot 5 Road Race and its open to all and it stars at 12 noon Entry and details etc on Total Timing.ie. In addition there are children's races starting at 11 am 5 years and upwards. Post Race catering by Local Market Produce. Another fixture on Saturday is the All Ireland Schools Combined Events in Athlone with a few athletes from Waterford schools competing.

On Sunday week November the 8 th the Munster Cross Country Championships for boys and girls under 9,11,13,15,17,19 and senior men and women will be in Beaufort Co Kerry at 11.30 am with many Waterford athletes in action there
Hayley in Doha
This week Hayley Fitzimmons Ferrybank is in Doha as part of the Irish Paralympic team of nine and she will compete in the shot putt on Thursday and all her club mates and friends wish her well
The Winter Coaching Series is coming to Waterford Regional Sports Centre on Saturday next 31st October from 10 am to 1.00pm with registration open from 9.30 am.This coaching day is open to all coaches and athletes who want to do more with their training over the autumn period while preparing for the indoors. The cost is €10 per athlete and all coaches are free. Coaches are actively encouraged to attend and participate in the sessions.
