It was a super day at the second day of the County Cross Country Championships in Dungarvan today. The girls under 9 team of Stella Smith, Heather Cheasty, Rhea Dolan and Evie Breen got proceedings under way with a superb team bronze medal. Luca Maloney and Kyle Lacey had a great run in the boys u 9 race. Molly Comerford took an excellent silver medal in the girls under 11 with Molly Kearney finishing very close behind her. Jake Coffey had a runaway victory in the boys under 11 race. Callum Hurley finished an excellent second overall under 13 and Jack Kearney had an excellent run in this age group also. The girls under 15 team finished second overall and were led home by Isobelle Cummins in second place followed closely then by Zoe Kiely, Aoife Casey, Emma Lowe, Caoimhe Duffy Niblock and Sarah Barber. The boys under 15 team won team gold led by the individual race winner Jake Bagge. Adam Power had an excellent run for individual silver in this race and the team were backed up with excellent runs from Eoin Hearne, Ethan Hurley and Mark Quelly. In the u 17 girls Emily Goff was second overall, Aisling Lowe was third overall and Molly Hutchinson had a fine run for fifth. In the under 19 girls Orla Quelly was the individual winner and Niamh Casey was third. Craig O Brien had a great run in the boys u 17 race and finally Louis O Carroll had a great run in the novice event. A super day overall. Next stop for this crew will be the Munster Championships in Carriganore on October 25th.
